Although I am not a very good judge of how close I am to the Lord Jesus Christ, I can witness and know that I am closer now than I was when He found me. It is ironic walking closer and closer to the Lord since as we draw closer, our perception of our own imperfections seems to increase. After all, the closer something gets to a source of light, the more easily its imperfections can be seen.
The Lord blessed me by making way for my wife and me to become parents of two beautiful children. This in itself is a miracle since the fertility doctors gave my wife and I a 2% chance of having children. Becoming a father has given me the perception of loving my children through their many mistakes without my love for them ever diminishing. No matter what they do, I will still love them without waiver. This gives me tremendous hope knowing that if I being imperfect loves my imperfect children and know how to give good gifts them and do the best for them, how much more will our heavenly Father give us the Kingdom? Matthew 7:9-11
As sin abounds, grace so much more abounds; as should our love for our wonderful and great Heavenly Father, Who loves us more than we can truly understand. It was the Apostle Paul who wrote, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!” Rom. 7:24-25
It is written that we who have been forgiven much, truly love much, so as our imperfections continue to manifest as we draw closer and journey as spiritual children with our Father, may our love for the Lord also continue to grow as well; the closer we draw to Him.
