When I watched the movie Schindler’s List as a young adult, it changed me. Even though I was moved by it, I couldn't voice why until years later. Oskar Schindler ran a Nazi munitions factory. He "purchased" Jews to work in this factory which in the end saved over one thousand Jews from the horrors of concentration camps.

This scene from the movie of Mr. Schindler saying farewell to the factory workers affects me most (YouTube: Schindler's List Ending Scene: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vOoWpTxKJGA):

Oskar Schindler: I could have got more. I could have got more, I don't know. If I just … I could have got more.

Itzhak Stern: Oskar, there are 1,100 people who are alive because of you. Look at them.

Oskar Schindler: If I had made more money. I threw away so much money. [laughs, then gets teary-eyed] You have no idea. If I just …

Itzhak Stern: There will be generations because of you.

Oskar Schindler: I didn't do enough.

Itzhak Stern: You did so much.

Oskar Schindler: This car. Goeth would have bought this car. Why did I keep the car? Ten people right there. Ten people. Ten more people. This pin … two people. This is gold. Two people. He would have given me two more, at least one. One more person. A person, Stern, for this. [starts crying] I could have got one more person, and I didn't! I -- I -- I didn't!

He was devastated by the realization that he could have saved more people from physical torment or death. How much more do I, as a Christian, want to do all I can to keep souls from torment and death? Pray that you can see each person you meet as a child that God loves. He wants them to know of Him and His love. Be aware! Pray that God will open your eyes to the needs of those around you. Pray that you can make yourself available and approachable in all occasions! Be a light in a dark world!
